Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
General EIN FAQs
An Employer Identification Number (EIN), also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to business entities operating in the United States. It’s essentially the Social Security Number for your business, required for tasks like filing taxes, opening a business bank account, and hiring employees.
With EIN Filing Tax, the typical processing time is remarkably fast. After your application is submitted to the IRS (which occurs during their operational hours of Mon-Fri, 7 AM – 10 PM EST), we aim to deliver your official EIN directly to your email inbox within **1.5 to 3 hours**. If your application is submitted outside these IRS hours, it is queued for immediate filing on the next business morning.
EIN Filing Tax is a private, third-party service provider specializing in EIN application assistance. We are not affiliated with the IRS or any government agency. Our purpose is to simplify the often-confusing application process, provide expert review for error prevention, and ensure rapid, hassle-free submission on your behalf.
After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email with a link and credentials for your dedicated **Customer Portal**. You can log in at any time to check the live status of your application, view prepared documents, and download your final EIN letter once issued.
Clients choose EIN Filing Tax for our **speed, error prevention, and convenience**. Our application is far simpler than the standard government form, and our expert review process ensures your documents are compliant before submission, minimizing delays and guaranteeing a smooth process.
They are the same thing for a business! **EIN** stands for Employer Identification Number, which is a specific type of federal Tax ID issued by the IRS to business entities. The term “Tax ID” is a more general term that can also refer to a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). When referring to a business, EIN and Tax ID are interchangeable.
Generally, any business that pays employees, operates as a corporation or partnership, files tax returns for excise, alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, or is involved with certain trusts or real estate mortgage investment conduits (REMICs) needs an EIN. Most small businesses, especially LLCs and Corporations, need one to open bank accounts and legally operate.

Billing & Refund FAQs
We offer a full **money-back guarantee** if you cancel your order *before* our team submits your finalized application to the IRS. If we make an error that results in an unresolvable filing issue, you will also receive a full refund.
Once approved, we initiate the refund immediately. However, the time it takes for the funds to appear in your account is dependent on your financial institution. Typically, this process takes between **5 to 10 business days**.
Double charges are extremely rare. If you see two charges, one is likely an initial authorization hold placed by your bank, and the other is the actual charge. The authorization hold typically drops off your statement within 24-48 hours. If both charges remain after two business days, please contact us immediately so we can investigate the issue.
If you have already initiated a credit card dispute (chargeback), we cannot issue a separate refund directly. The refund process must be completed through the bank or card issuer handling the dispute. We recommend contacting us first, as we can often resolve issues faster than a formal bank dispute.
You should only have one charge from EIN Filing Tax for your single EIN application. If you have filed for multiple EINs (e.g., for different entities or businesses), each application would result in a separate transaction. If you suspect an error, please reach out to customer support immediately for a review of your order history.
